This here recipe is just awesome! It is a must have at my family's Thanksgiving feast. My mom got this recipe from a lady in my old home ward and we have been making it ever since. Some people might look at this and think, "Jello and Pretzels?" But honestly it is to die for! The whole pan was gone before we got home, so no leftovers :( but it was delicious! I made this the night before to give the jello time to set up and it turned out perfect!
2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
3 Tbsp sugar
3/4 cup melted butter
8 oz cream cheese
1 cup sugar
8 oz cool whip
6 oz strawberry jello
1 cup boiling water
2, 10 oz packages frozen strawberries, thawed** (Raspberries would also work great!)
**I used fresh strawberries instead and just sugar coated them to let them make a little syrup
Mix pretzels, butter and 3 Tbsp of sugar. Press into a 9x13 pan (Don't press too hard) Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes only. Let cool.
Beat cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar together. Add whipped topping and spread onto cooled crust. Dissolve jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir in berries, then let stand 10 minutes. Pour jello mixture onto cream cheese layer and chill.
