One day at work, this guy I worked with was talking about how he would make these. He and another worker were going on and on about how great they were and I thought to myself, if a guy could do it they gotta be easy! :) So I had them tell me what to do and that next week I attempted to make them. I tried to be clever and let the bread loaves rise while I was at work then on my lunch break I went home (I only lived 5 min away luckily) and decided to finish them and then let them finish raising... when I put them in the oven that night it was a disaster! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to let them rise AGAIN after I made them (I don't really know where I thought I had to do that) and so when I cooked them they were all over the place touching the walls of our tiny apartment oven and making an oozing mess and burning everywhere. I couldn't believe it! I laughed at my self and couldn't believe I was so stupid when I first made these :)
Trust me.... They aren't that hard! I was a little slow back then and didn't think great! So here is the recipe and it is so easy and fun! I would make this while we lived at the in laws and my little brother in law always requested them :)
Enjoy!
2 loaves frozen bread dough (or your favorite dough recipe)
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1 cup pizza sauce plus extra for dipping
pizza toppings of your choice (pepperoni, sausage, ham, pineapple, olives, etc)
Thaw dough. Combine loaves and roll into a rectangle (14x24) about 1/4 in thick. Spread pizza sauce over dough and sprinkle with cheese. Then top with toppings. Roll up, lengthwise like a jelly roll and cut into 24 1 inch slices (this is a lot like rolling and cutting cinnamon rolls)
Place rolls on a greased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart and bake at 400 degrees for 8-12 min. Serve with favorite dipping sauce (marinara or ranch)
