I have never really been a fan of French Dip Sandwiches for some reason. I think I always just thought they were bland and flavorless (I LOVE flavor!) but when my mom made these one day, I fell in LOVE!!! they are sooooo easy and yet so yummy! The secret to the deliciousness is the cream cheese you spread on the hoagies.......... if you are like me and never really liked French Dips, you should give these a shot! I like to make homemade fries with these or serve them with the classic side dish of chips.
4 Hoagie Rolls
1 pkg Au Jus gravy mix(use 2 if you like a lot of sauce)
1 pound deli Italian roast beef (thin slices)
Cream cheese softened(to taste, some like me, to load it on)
8 Slices of Provolone cheese
Prepare Au Jus gravy according to directions. Place Roast Beef in gravy mix and simmer for about 10-20 minutes. While beef is simmering, prepare hoagie rolls by spreading cream cheese on the bottom bun and 2 slices of Provolone cheese on each top bun. (I like to butter the buns as well). Place tops and bottoms of hoagies face up under broiler for a minute or two until cheese has melted. Using tongs, pull out some beef and place it on bottom bun and top with top bum. Serve with remaining sauce for dipping.
