I found this dish on pinterest and after reading all the raving reviews I couldn't wait to try it. We LOVE pizza at our house and this was super yummy! I do think that the next time we make this I will do a few things differently {which I will note along the posted recipe}. But for the most part this was fabulous and we will definitely make it again.
*Note* This dish is HEFTY!! I put it in my 9x13 pan and it went clear to the top and weighed a ton! :) I'm pretty sure this pan could easily feed 8 people with a little extra possibly. You could even stretch it out more if you add garlic bread and a green salad on the side :)
I found this recipe HERE at Cully's kitchen. Enjoy!!
1 lb bow tie pasta
1 lb mild pork sausage
1 large onion chopped
2 (26 oz) jars spaghetti sauce {we always use Prego here}
1 lb cubed cooked ham {personally next time I think I will omit this or only put it on half, it was a little too much for my taste}
sliced pepperoni {I just used one of the 6 oz (I think) bags}
3 (8oz) bags shredded mozzarella cheese {I'm honestly not sure how much I actually used, I sprinkled it on pretty heavy but pretty sure I didn't use all 3 bags because that seemed like a LOT of cheese!!}
6 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp chopped garlic
1 tsp dried oregano
Preheat oven to 375
Cook pasta according to package til Al Dente (it will soften a little more while being cooked).
Cook sausage with onions, garlic and oregano until sausage is no longer pink.
Then take a little sauce and pour to coat the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Then add the following layers:
*First layor- 1/3 of the pasta, 1/3 sauce, 1 bag of cheese, 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese, all the sausage and onion mixture
*Second layer- 1/2 of the remaining pasta, 1/2 of the remaining sauce, 1 bag of cheese, 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese, all the ham
*Third layer- the remaining pasta, remaining sauce, 1 bag of cheese, 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese, all the pepperoni to completely cover the entire top
Then bake uncovered for 40 min. Let set for at least 5 minutes before serving.
**Next time I think I will do the 1st layer with pepperoni, then the 2nd layer all the sausage, and the top layer more pepperoni. We LOVED the flavor of the pepperoni and I didn't think there was enough and way too much ham, but that is just a personal opinion :)
