Twix Brownies
Oh my goodness, these were utterly INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! It was a little more work then just throwing a box of brownie mix into the oven but SOOOOO worth it!
Got the idea from HERE
But used the crust and caramel recipe from my friend Yvonne at TriedandTasty.com
Crust:
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter and 2 tbsp.
Brownie Layer:
1 box of brownie mix
Ingredients called for in directions on back of box
1/4 cup hot fudge ice cream topping
Caramel:
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. corn syrup
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
Chocolate Topping
1 (11.5 oz.) bag milk chocolate chips
2 Tablespoons butter
1/4 cup heavy cream
*Original recipe Note - If you don't have any cream on hand, and don't want to purchase for such a small amount, just use milk. Things will still turn out deliciously. I bet no one even notices, unless you tell them.
First make the crust by melting the butter. Stir the flour and sugar together and then add the melted butter. Pat into a well greased and {for easy removal} a foil like 9x13 then bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. Then make the brownies according to the package directions, except add in the hot fudge as well. {The original recipe notes that if you are in high altitude to follow those directions on the box, I have NEVER done that before but decided to since we are in high altitude.... so I followed those directions of my brownies}. Poor brownie batter on top of crust and bake as directed on box, then let cool.
Then make the caramel by boiling the ingredients over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and beat until thick, then pour over cooled brownies and let cool SLIGHTLY (you don't want the caramel too cool because the chocolate topping won't meld together as well} Then make chocolate topping by combining all ingredients in a saucepan over medium-low heat stirring occasionally until creamy and combined, then pour over caramel layer.
Let brownies cool completely before cutting into {I placed mine in the fridge to help it go faster} Then pull up the foil and cut into bars and enjoy a little piece of heaven on earth!
