My friend, Lori, shared some breadsticks with our family one night and we couldn't stop eating them. I had to get the recipe from her immediately! We have been making these breadsticks ever since! It's one of those super quick and easy recipes to throw together and doesn't take long to rise so you can add it last minute to your menu if needed. My kind of favorite recipe!!
I very often double this recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 2/3 cup warm water (think, baby bottle warm)
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cups flour
Directions
- In a Bosch or Kitchen Aid, mix sugar, yeast and water together. Cover and let sit until foamy (about 5-10 minutes)
- Add salt and flour and mix
- Add more flour as needed (I tend to add 1/2-1 cup more depending on the humidity)
- Knead dough for about 3 minutes.
- Cover and let rise 10 minutes.
- Grease a large baking sheet and spread dough out onto it.
- Press and push the dough to a rectangle shape (the dough is super soft and easy to do this without using a rolling pin)
- Brush on melted butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese, garlic powder and a little parsley.
- Cut into breadsticks using a pizza cutter (I like to cut it in half and then into sticks lengthwise)
- Cover and let rise 20-30 minutes.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 17-20 minutes
