This is one refreshing dessert! I fell in love with this and took it to 2 different family parties where it didn't last long! It was amazing to say the least!! Plus it looked awesome in the Trifle bowl :)
I would imagine you could add blueberries or raspberries to your hearts content :)
2 8 oz packages cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 8 oz container sour cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 12 oz tub cool whip, thawed
4 Tbsp sugar
1 angel food cake, torn/cut into bite-size pieces
2 bags frozen strawberries
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until fluff, then add sour cream, 1/2 tsp vanilla and the almond extract. Then fold the cool whip in. Then gently stir in cake pieces and set aside.
Combine strawberries and sugar, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Layer in a large glass bowl, starting with 1/4 of the strawberries then 1/3 cake mixture. Continue to layer finishing with the strawberries. Cover with plastic wrap and chill several hours before serving.
