My mom is FAMOUS for these cookies! They became known as "the Harrah" cookie in my home ward. We would drop off cookies for someone and the first question they would ask was "are these Harrah cookies!??" My mom claims she doesn't do anything special but when I made them with her once I caught on to some of her tricks, like extra flour here or cooking them for a specific amount of time. Just little things but they were always perfect cookies!!
2 ¼ cup flour (+ ¾ which is what my mom adds extra)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 whole egg
1 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks
½ cup butter, softened
¼ cup rolled oats
½ cup shortening
1 pkg. choc chips
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In large bowl, combine butter, shortening, sugars, and vanilla and cream until fluffy. Add egg and egg yolks; beat well. Gradually add all but about ½ cup dry ingredients. Mix rolled oats with remaining flour and stir into batter. Stir in Choc chips. Bate at 375 for 10:25 min.(the time my mom always cooked hers, start with 10 and check from there, each oven really does cook a little different)
