Brownie Trifle

I have a great love for trifle desserts. Not only are they super easy to put together, they are always SHOW-STOPPING! They look so incredible and make people smile (and think you spent hours making it!)

We got invited to a Twilight movie watching party and wanted to do themed foods and I searched Pinterest and found this gem and gave it a try and FELL IN LOVE! I've made it 3 times now and it's always a huge hit. I opt out of doing the "blood" part that you see in the original recipe post, here, but it doesn't alter the flavor at all.

Give this a go if you need a yummy chocolate dessert. You won't be disappointed!

Ingredients

  • 1 baked red velvet cake (I just do a boxed cake mix for this)
  • 1 baked pan of brownies (I just do a boxed mix here too, or you can even buy brownie bites from the store!)
  • 2 boxes instant chocolate pudding mix (3.4 oz each)
  • 4 cups milk (I always use whole, but the original recipe calls for 2%)
  • 16 oz Cool Whip, thawed
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed
Instructions
  • Cut the red velvet cake and brownies into 1" cubes.  Set aside.
  • Make the pudding according to the package directions. Cover and refrigerate until ready to assemble.
Assemble the trifle:
  • Add a layer of cake and brownie bites into trifle bowl
  • Add a layer of pudding
  • Top pudding with some cool whip and crushed Oreos
  • Repeat layers
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours before serving.
